One time, I sent Casey’s laptop to a “Nigerian Prince” scammer cause I couldn’t suss out a fake Paypal email.
One time, I put one of UTR’s tunes on Spotify without audio.
One time, I somehow put a VERY personal photo of myself on one of the bands streaming platforms when changing the band’s press picture.
I’m a fuck-up.
We are all fuck-ups, I think.
The guys and I tried to build an online thing.
A thing that could somehow support Under The Rug (as a band and a household),
while functioning as a social media alternative,
and as art,
and as a place to be friends.
Something we feel good about making
and something that you think is worth giving us a monthly coffee for.
But, like…I didn’t know how to make the little floating question mark thingy in the bottom of your screen. I had to watch a bunch of dumb, boring videos to figure that one stupid thing out. And the site is full of those things!
Meanwhile, Casey is locked in the doodle dungeon for the whole month and Brendan is pulling his hair out trying to integrate the yaddadada to the blippydippy so the feed works right or whatever.
Like I said, not website guys. So I hope you love it cause I think it’s pretty rad for some band kids in a mobile home spending a couple months using every single collective brain cell.
ANYWAY, after working for many nights…
(depicted by selfies that Brendan took on my phone throughout the work week)
I want to welcome you to the thing!
The Secret Hideout, if you will.
Please, explore and chat and give us any suggestions you may have.
This really should’ve been at the beginning, but, eh, I can do whatever I want here. YA HEAR THAT ZUCKERBERG?!
THANK YOU, HOLY SHIT, THANK YOU!
I’ve always felt a little embarrassed – or scared, maybe – to ask for money for our art, but lately, the love has been exponentially pouring in and now, more than ever, it seems like Under The Rug does something for a lot of folks. Enough to where this subscription might be an investment for the future for some. I get it, Under The Rug has done a lot for me, too. Even through all my fuck-ups.
So, I, Sean, promise to keep creating in Under The Rug as long as you amazing folks want me to and I’ll be HAPPY AS FUCK to do it.
Thank you times a billion. I can’t wait to get closer to each one of you.
Try leaving a comment so we know this rickety-scaffolding-tower-of-a-website cranks.
